Lucknow: There comes a reason for ancient art lovers of the ‘Nawabi’ city to rejoice. An Egyptian gallery has been setup at the museum of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Prani Udhyan or Luknow Zoo, showcasing a modest collection of antiquities from Egypt.

The gallery was inaugurated by Minister of State for Culture Aruna Kumari along with Secretary Neelam Ahlawat.

More about the Egyptian gallery:

  • The mummy of an Egyptian queen, placed in the museum for over 64 years, has been shifted to a separate gallery.
  • Several other interesting Egyptian antiquities have also been brought to the gallery.
  • Models of the ‘Great Sphinx of Giza’ have been placed at the entrance of the gallery.
  • Khufu – named after the Great Pyramid of Khufu – is a 2,500-year-old huge plane and its replica has also been placed within the gallery.
