J&K Minister Naeem Akhtar escapes death in Pulwama grenade attack

Srinagar: Senior Jammu and Kashmir minister Naeem Akhtar escaped death in the grenade attack by militants near a bus stand in Tral town of Pulwama district in South Kashmir.

"Militants threw the grenade at 11.45 am in which Jammu and Kashmir Public Works Minister Naeem Akhtar escaped miraculously. Three people have died so far while 30 others got injured, who include police officials and a paramilitary troopers," said a cop here.

At the time of the attack, the minister was present there, but he did not sustain any damage, he added.

“The injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment. The area has been cordoned off for searches,” police said earlier.

Earlier on Wednesday night, militants had attacked on a Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) camp in Banihal, in which a head constable got martyred while another soldier suffered injuries.

The incident took place at 8 pm. The attackers opened firing at the 14th battalion of SSB.
