New Delhi: Supreme Court, on Wednesday, declared the Aadhaar Scheme as constitutionally valid but has defined its usage. Among the judgments, the apex court said that Aadhaar is not compulsory to link with bank accounts or your mobile number.

After the landmark verdict of Supreme Court, people are now curious to delink their bank accounts and mobile wallets with Aadhaar as it is not mandatory now.

The process of Aadhaar delinking both from bank accounts and mobile wallets is simple but very few are aware about it.

It can be done by submitting an application to the branch of the bank where the customer has an account stating the reason for revoking his consent.

Below are the steps to delink your Aadhaar:

1- Customers are requested to call on the required customer care numbers of their banks or their private wallet firms.

2- The company’s representative will send you an e-mail to unlink your Aadhaar.

3- You have to attach a scanned copy of your Aadhaar. You need to reply back with the required copy of Aadhaar card.

4- You will receive a mail confirming the delinking of Aadhaar within 72 hours.
