Srinagar: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday declared to bear all the educational expenses for lifetime of the daughter of slain Jammu and Kashmir Police officer Abdul Rashid. The five-year-old girl thanked him for the same and told him that she wants to become a doctor.

Taking to Twitter, the Indian cricketer expressed pride in having such bravehearts who lay down their lives to protect the country.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Rashid was killed by militants in Anantnag town on August 28. The picture of his seven-year-old Zohra wailing after his death has come to represent the tragedy faced by Kashmir's children.

Rashid was shot and rushed to a hospital in Anantnag and then shifted to an Army Hospital. But he succumbed to his injuries.

The five-year old expressed gratitude towards the kind gesture from Gambhir saying that she and her family was really happy with the announcement. She told that she 'wants to become a doctor.'

The heart wrenching images of Zohra crying inconsolably at her father’s last rites had gone viral over social media.

Jammu and Kashmir Police also thanked Gautam Gambhir for his commendable gesture.
