Fresh trouble for Mayawati: SC agrees to hear new petition

New Delhi: A fresh trouble stares at former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati as the Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to hear a case for filing a fresh case against her in regarding alleged illegal accumulation of wealth by her.

The court said that it would not pass any immediate order against Mayawati but will hear the petition filed by an ex-Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) minister.

Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi ,however, resisted fresh case against her saying Mayawati had already been given a clean chit by the Income Tax department which has investigated donations made to the BSP supremo thus no ground for fresh case existed.

On the other hand, Mayawati's lawyer argued that the petitioner was out for a political vendetta since she was already given free chit in Disproportionate Assets (DA) case.
