New Delhi: Farmers may once again face nature’s wrath in India due to slow speed of monsoon. The monsoon, already delayed this year, could not even grip West Bengal by this time, said weatherman.

The monsoon may further be delayed by more than one week in other parts of India due to its slow speed while the average rainfall measured in the last fortnight was less than 22 per cent.

The monsoon should have hit eastern parts of India by this time and covered large area of the country by June 15 .

  • The rainfall from June 1 to June 15 was 43.6 mm.
  • The average rainfall was 22 per cent less than normal.
  • Some parts of southern India witnessed 27 per cent more rainfall than the average.
  • The meteorological experts,however, express optimism of revival of the monsoon in the coming days.
