This Earth Hour shine a light on climate change...!!!

Lucknow: March 25, 2017, will mark the tenth anniversary of Earth Hour. On this day millions of people across the globe will unite together to show their love, emotions and care for the planet by turning of the lights from 0830 hours to 0930 hours, on Saturday.

The world will go dark as a sign to protect the environment and to lessen the pollution which will help our planet to be saved for future, because 'we have not inherited the Earth from our forefathers, we have borrowed it from our children.'

Many of you would be wondering that what Earth Hour is. When was it started?

Earth Hour is the largest movement for the environment that was initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) with a thought that the Earth does not belong to us, we belong to it.

• This is the task to encourage people to dim the lights for the sake of environment.
• The event was started in 2007 in Australia and soon it spread all around the world.

The executive director at Earth Hour Global stated, "We started Earth Hour in 2007 to show leaders that climate change was an issue people cared about. For that symbolic moment to turn into the global movement it is today, is really humbling and speaks volumes about the powerful role of people in issues that affect their lives."

It may be mentioned that last year around 178 countries supported this action and showed their affection towards earth.

Dimming the lights for one hour in a year may not give huge impact to safeguard our planet but it puts climate change in front of us.

We all want our future generation to have a healthy and safe life...and small things always bring big changes. This is why Earth Hour is important…
