Chennai: After heavy rainfall lashed the southern states for a day, a cyclone warning has been issued for south Andhra Pradesh and north Tamil Nadu by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Key points-

  • After heavy showers, four National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams were deployed in Chennai.
  • On Wednesday, the teams arrived with 24 boats in the capital of Tamil Nadu.
  • Chennai Corporation officials asked fishermen to deploy their boats to severely affected areas.

As per reports, there are chances of heavy rainfall on Wednesday, especially in the areas of north coastal Tamil Nadu, which also includes Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram.

However, weather system may move northwards by Thursday.

Met officials said-

  • On Wednesday, up to 12 cm of rainfall can be expected in the city.
