Cases filed against numerous inmates of Deoria jail in UP

Deoria: Cases levelling serious charges have been filed against 17 known and 400 unknown persons following clashes in the Deoria jail premises on Tuesday last, in which 12 persons, including the SP, SSP and several prisoners, were injured.

The clashes were an offshoot of an argument between two groups over use of drugs. They engaged themselves in a pitched battle with the police in which Superintendent of Police Prabhakar Chaudhary, Addtional SP Narendra Singh and eight other policemen were injured.
