Air India offers business class International tickets to Sakshi

New Delhi: When the whole nation is applauding Rio Olympics bronze medallist Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik for her performance, Air India, the national carrier, in a touching gesture, has announced to provide her free business class to and fro tickets to any international destination where Air India serves.

Ashwani Lohani, Chairman and Managing Director of Air India, wrote in a letter, "As a mark of our recognition and gratitude for your outstanding achievement in the Rio Olympics, Air India is proud to offer you two (for you and your companion) return business class tickets between any two destinations on the entire Air India network valid for a period of one year.”

Air India tries to fulfil her wish:

  • Sakshi Malik became the reason for nation’s happiness when she beat Kyrgyztan’s Aisuluu Tynybekova to earn a bronze medal.

  • The 23 year old Haryana girl, after winning her bronze-medal, had earlier expressed that she took up wrestling as she thought that it was the only way to travel in an aeroplane.

  • The letter from Air India, eagerly waiting for her, stated "The entire Air India family is indeed proud that you have won the first medal for the country in the Rio Olympics. Indeed your victory has made all of us very happy.”

More rewards for Sakshi:

  • Sakshi Malik has a series of rewards and tokens of appreciation waiting back at home. The lady is expected to collect approximately rupees 3.5 crore from various organisations and individuals, including the Olympics association, Indian Sports Ministry and the Haryana Government.

  • The Indian freestyle wrestler is also entitled to Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, according to government policy, as she won an Olympic medal.
