18 policemen injured in Kupwara mob attack

Srinagar: At least eighteen policemen and two officers were injured at Kupwara town after an unruly mob pelted stones at the police post after Friday prayers in Jammu and Kashmir.

In the recent past, several such kinds of attacks with stones have been witnessed after Friday prayers.

A senior police officer said-

  • Eighteen policemen including the station house officer (SHO) of Kupwara police station and an assistant sub-inspector were injured.
  • An unruly mob resorted to heavy stone pelting at the police post in Kupwara town after the Friday prayers.
  • The incident happened after a separatist leader made an inflammatory speech at the local mosque.

Few policemen, who faced severe injuries, have been shifted to hospital for the treatment.
