Indian two-wheeler segment to get a boost in the year 2017 with completely new line-up of motorcycles in the offing. And it’s not only the premium and superbikes which will make their presence felt in the market, but quite a few entry-level performance bikes will also find their place.

These new bikes are enough to satiate every type of rider.

Here are some of the most anticipated motorcycles to be launched in 2017.

1. Yamaha FZ-250

• Expected Price: Rs 1.5 lakhs – Rs 1.7 lakhs

• Launch Date: January, 2017

Expected to hit the market in early 2017, the Yamaha FZ-250 will have anupdated design with a premium look. It will be equipped with a single cylinder 249cc engine which will churn out nearly 20bhp and 20Nm. The bike will have disc brakes at the front and the rear along with better styling and new bodywork.

2. Pulsar 200 NS

• Expected Price: 1.5 lakhs

• Launch Date: Mid Jan, 2017

There is no exaggeration if I say that the Pulsar range of motorcycles is one of the most loved bikes in India. Now Bajaj is also set to launch the updated Pulsar 200 NS which will get a single- channel ABS, new colour schemes, the auto headlamp on, and many other features. Mechanically, it will have a 199cc engine which will produce 23.2bhp and 18.6Nm of torque.

3. Hero Xtreme 200S

• Expected Price: Rs 90,000 – Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)

• Launch Date: January, 2017

It has been ages since Hero launched a motorbike above 150cc and with the 200cc space evolving, this might be the right time for it to unveil abike in this segment. The Xtreme 200S may be equipped with disc brakes at both ends and come optionally fitted with ABS. Styled like the Xtreme 150, this new motorcycle will be more stylish and bold in look.

4. DSK Benelli TNT 135

• Expected Price: Rs 1.35 – Rs. 1.50 Lakh (ex-showroom price)

• Launch Date: March, 2017

India’s first ever mini-bike, ‘Honda Navi’ was a huge success and grabbed the attention of Indian two-wheeler buyers. Now soon we will witness the launch of DSK Benelli’s 134cc mini-bike in 2017. The bike will be powered by a 135cc engine producing 12.6bhp and 10.8Nm power with a 5-speed manual transmission. In addition, the TNT 135 will also come with 41mm USDs up front and disc brakes at both the ends.

5. UM Renegade Classic

• Expected Price: Rs 1.69 (ex-showroom price, New Delhi)

• Launch Date: March, 2017

Currently, selling the Renegade Commando and Renegade Sport S in India, UM will soon launch the Renegade Classic. The Classic will be powered by a 280cc single- cylinder water cooled engine that can produce 25bhp of power at 8,500rpm and 21.8Nm of torque at 7,000rpm unit. Also, the Renegade Classic will have the fuel injection as standard and ABS as an option.

6. TVS Akula 310

• Expected Price: Under Rs 2 lakhs

• Launch Date: March, 2017

It will be the first motorbike to be manufactured in collaboration between TVS and BMW. To be launched in February or March, the Akula 310 will be the full version of the street naked BMW G 310 R, which is equipped with a 313cc engine that produces 34 hp of power and 28 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed transmission. Along with this, TVS Akula 310 will also have upside-down front forks and a monoshock at the rear.

7. Kawasaki W800

• Expected Price: Rs. 10 lakhs (ex-showroom)

• Launch Date: January, 2017

In order to tap the burgeoning interest in retro-styled motorbikes, Kawasaki W800 is soon going to find its place in the Indian automobile sector. Powering the motorcycle is a 773cc V-twin air-cooled enginewhich can produce 46.4bhp of power along with 60Nm of peak torque output. Its exciting styling cues include rear-view mirrors, exhaust pipe and chromed-out fenders. Also, the front and rear wheels will have disc brakes without ABS (Anti-lock braking system).

8. Triumph Street Triple 800

• Expected Price: Below Rs10 lakhs

• Launch Date: Mid, 2017

Triumph's popular roadster, the Street Triple is ready for all upgradation with new engine and components. This motorcycle will be first launched in the USA and the UK. The bike is expected to get a displacement bump up to 765cc as compared tothe current 675cc triple of the Street Triple. Further, the new Street Triple is expected to come with features like ride-by-wire, slipper clutch, a full-colour TFT instrument screen and updated electronics.

9. Honda CRF 1000L Africa Twin

• Expected Price: Around Rs 15 lakhs

• Launch Date: March or April, 2017

Africa Twin is expected to be powered by a 998cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine which will produce 94bhp of power and 98Nm of torque. Globally, the motorcycle comes in two transmission variants - a six-speed manual and a six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The bike will also feature the limited overhang which wouldreduce the damage caused by a minor spill. It will be available in two colour options: - Red/Black/White Dakar Rally and Digital Metallic Silver.

10. Ducati Monster 797

• Expected Price: Around Rs 8 lakhs

• Launch Date: First half of 2017

The Monster 797 borrows style designs from the Monster 821, with a similar looking muscular fuel tank, frame, and a beefy headlight design. It will have the same power as the Ducati Scrambler - the 803cc L-twin making 75bhp of power and 68Nm of torque, with a six-speed gearbox. There will be no quickshifter, but you will get a slipper clutch for aggressive downshifting.

Unlike its previous bigger monsters, Ducati has kept the electronic intervention to minimum with the Bosch 9.1MP ABS.

11. Tork T6X

• Expected Price: Around Rs 1.25 lakhs

• Launch Date: First half of 2017

Tork Motors, a Pune-based electric motorcycles startup, will unveil the India’s first premium electric bike. It is an apt ride for those who prefer city riding, and the motorcycle is claimed to be equivalent to a 200cc petrol-powered motorbike. The bike is powered by a 6 kW (8 bhp) electric motor which is paired to an automatic transmission, and it gets its braking power from discs at the front and rear. Also, it will havetelescopic front forks and a monoshock suspension setup at the rear. As the motorcycle uses lithium-ion batteries, it boasts a range of 500 km on a single battery charge. The bike comes under the purview of the central government’s FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles), and thus, eligible to get subsidies.
