Watch live TV and OTT without internet may possible in future on phone

Did you ever imagine that as you can watch TV channels without internet, the same thing can happen in phone also?

This can be possible with direct to mobile means D2M.

For this, the Department of Communication in the union ministry of Information and Broadcasting and IIT Kanpur has started a project on this.

The team will communicate with communication operators on this topic.

It is a combination of broadband and broadcast. D2M works similar like we hear FM in our phone.

The receiver in the phone will catch the frequency. For this, 536-582 MHz bands will be used. It is currently used for TV transmitters.

Currently, 21 to 22 crore people are using Television while 80 crore people are using smart phones. This population can reach up to 100 crore by 2026.

Due to this, the government is considering phone to provide TV content. The purpose behind this is that the government wants to promote education and emergency services.

Through D2M users can access regional TV, radio, educational content, emergency alert system, disaster news and applications through the internet.
