Volkswagen Is Planning to Invest a Huge Amount in EV

By investing in electric mobility, the company wants to meet the demand for rising electric trains. Volkswagen expects a total growth of about 25 percent in sales of electric vehicles by 2026.

NEW DELHI: Volkswagen has announced plans to invest Rs 1,352 crore in the future. Out of this, the automaker will invest about Rs 757 crore mainly for electric mobility and its digitization. According to the company, it will also focus on electrizing all its sites. Volkswagen said its fully electric Brussels factory will produce a new Audi Q8 E-Tron and electric R8, which will be launched by 2026.

By investing in electric mobility, the company wants to meet the demand for rising electric trains. Volkswagen expects a total growth of about 25 percent in sales of electric vehicles by 2026.

Audi Q8 design

Audi introduced the prototype of its car in 2017. It can have a sloped roof, a carved bonnet, Audi's signature grille, a new bumper, and smooth headlights. Roof rails, ORVM, beefy cladding, and new design alloy wheels can be found on the sides of the car. A shark-fin antenna at the back, a window wiper, and wrap-around LED taillights attached to the chrome strip can be found with a car with extremely attractive designs.

These features can be found in the car

Coming to the features, it can have a luxurious cabin with level 3 automated driving, a premium upholstery with a comfortable position, a large touch screen information system, an adjustable steering wheel. It is expected to get a battery of 120kWh which will provide a range of 750 km in full charge. Features like rear parking sensor, active lane assist will be available for safety. No information about its price is yet available.

Audi to launch an electric variant of its R8 It is reported that Audi will also launch an electric variant of its powerful sports car R8. According to reports, the existing model of the car will be updated but there will be no change in its design. Coming to the design, its existing model features a tilted roofline, black-out mesh grille, wide air dam, sleek headlights, as well as a black-out Audi badge. The car has 20-inch matte black designer wheels.

What could be the price of an electric R8?

The existing Audi R8 features a 5.2-liter V-10 petrol engine that generates 525hp power and 540Nm peak torque. It catches a speed of 0 to 100 km/hr in just 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 323 km/hr. No information about the electric powertrain of the car has been revealed so far. Coming to the price, it will be kept at a slightly premium from the petrol variant priced at around Rs 1.36 crore.
