Rules for Import of Vehicles in India

According to the Directorate of Foreign Trade (DGFT) regulations, you can only order automobiles from outside India that are: 1. not made by Indian firms. 2. The car should be free of any outstanding loans or monthly fees (EMIs). 3. Before the import process, the vehicle shall not be registered in any other nation. If the automobile you're bringing in doesn't come with it, you may easily order it.

It is very important to take care of these things

Before importing the automobile, the speedometer unit must be kmph per hour rather than mph per hour. The right hand should control the steering wheel of the car. That is, the car must be driven from the right side. Bikes are excluded from this rule. Any car that has to be imported is only accessible in the manufacturer's nation. You can have a lot of problems if the automobile is in another nation.

If NRIs are bringing their vehicles back to their country, they should have proof that they have lived in that country for the last two years. Import duty on cars and bikes

Import duty for luxury cars is 16.5% of the price (CIF) of the vehicle. For bikes, it is 11.6 percent of the CIF value. In addition, the fee being charged by the State Government is deposited by visiting the Regional Transport Office (RTO).

Import vehicles keeping these things in mind

If you order a car from outside of India, you will have to spend many times more money than the actual price. There are rules framed by the government for cars and bikes purchased from abroad, which can be fulfilled only after an Indian-purchases a vehicle from abroad. High octane fuel is used in luxury cars and is not available everywhere in India.
