Mumbai: Reliance Jio on Thursday withdrew its three-month Summer Surprise plan following the order of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) of its cancellation.

It could be seen as a setback for the Jio users as Summer Surprise plan was offering three months of free services. Jio had fixed April 15 as the final date to avail the offer.

The decision of TRAI has come as a relief for the rival companies including Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, Vodafone etc who were struggling to woo the customers.

"Today, TRAI has advised Jio to withdraw the three months complimentary benefits of Jio Summer Surprise," the company said in a release.

“Jio accepts this decision. Jio is in the process of fully complying with the regulator’s advice, and will be withdrawing the three months complimentary benefits of Jio Summer Surprise as soon as operationally feasible, over the next few days,” it added.

After the removal of Summer Surprise, Jio users will have to subscribe to the earlier announced packs.

It may be mentioned here that Jio is providing free services since last six months in the form of offers like Jio Welcome Offer and Jio Happy New Year Offer. Such low price data plans of Jio had forced companies like Bharti Airtel to compromise by lowering their data plan rates.
