The Impact of Streaming Platforms on the Future of Television

Video streaming platform Netflix recently gave information about its gaming venture and now changes related to it are visible in the app. Netflix has officially started testing gaming features in its Android app. Users who have Android smartphones and Netflix subscriptions will be able to play games by going to the Netflix app. The games first given in the app are based on the Netflix Original Series: Stranger Things.

The games that Android users are getting the option to play in the Netflix app include Stranger Things 1984 and Stranger Things 3. The company has informed the users in a tweet.

OTT platform has said that its gaming venture is still in the early stage, so it will undergo a number of changes and improvements before the rollout to more users. The company will take feedback from users involved in testing before making the new change a part of its stable app.

Last month, Netflix stated that customers would soon have the choice of gaming, which will be put in the core category alongside original movies, programs, and unscripted programming. More details have still to be disclosed, but it is obvious that gaming platform subscriptions will be included in the plans and customers would not have to pay for them individually. That is, with the existing subscription, there will also be the benefit of free gaming.

Stepping into the gaming section, Netflix will clash with platforms like Google Stadia, XBox Pass and Apple Arcade. The company may benefit from netflix not charging a separate subscription for gaming. However, Netflix will have to include other popular games and titles on its platform to stake a strong claim. It is too early to say anything as the new change is in the early stages.

Netflix is also working on the new service 'N-Plus' and wants to get feedback from users. Recently, it has come to light that users on the N-Plus platform will get more information about Netflix shows. N Plus will also show users additional content that appears on YouTube, Instagram and other platforms. "N-plus will be the future online space where you will learn more about your favorite Netflix shows," the Netflix survey says. "

However, you will have to be disappointed if you live in India and want to enjoy gaming while watching Netflix shows. Netflix is testing the new gaming feature in select markets.

The video streaming platform is currently conducting a new gaming feature test only in Poland. Clearly, only select users living in that area will get the option to try a new feature. But it will surely get a global launch as Netflix don't want to lose existing customers who want to enjoy gaming on the app.
