New York: CEO and Co-founder of HQ Trivia app found dead

New York: CEO and Co-Founder of hit gaming app HQ Trivia Colin Kroll was found dead at his residence in New York.

According to a law enforcement, "Kroll was found unconscious in the bedroom of his New York apartment, after the technology entrepreneur's girlfriend called the New York Police Department asking for a wellness check."

After learning about Kroll's death, A spokesperson from HQ stated, "We learned today of the passing of our friend and founder, Colin Kroll, and it's with deep sadness that we say goodbye."

Prima facie, the death was caused by the overdose of drug paraphernalia. The exact cause of death is being examined by doctors.

The real-time trivia game app launched in 2017 and was a breakout success. It soared to the top of Apple's free game app chart in the first few months of 2018.

In 2012, Mr Kroll was part of the team that invented short-form video platform Vine, and followed the company when it was bought by Twitter.

He was sacked by Twitter and in 2017, he and business partner Rus Yusupov formed Intermedia Labs, the company behind HQ Trivia.

HQ Trivia's Twitter account also shared a message of condolence, describing its "deep sadness".
