Facebook redesigns its Messenger feature for over 900mn users

New Delhi: Social media giant Facebook has updated its ‘Messenger’ service by adding few new features including home button, birthday and favourite section. Facebook’s Messenger family mounts to over 900 million users across globe and the latest update is a gift for them.

Below are the major FB Messenger updates:

  • Recent messages will come at top of the screen after launching the app
  • New feature will show active friends online
  • Users will be reminded about the birthdays on the date
  • FB Messenger now boasts a search feature like the Facebook mobile search option
  • Facebook claims to have made the messenger app simpler
  • Facebook is also bringing 1500 new and more diverse emojis to the Messenger app

Facebook’s official press release reads:

“We hope to show you other things happening on Messenger that you might be interested in, too. For example, with the Active Now section, you can see that a good friend or colleague is available in the moment. Maybe that will prompt you to say hi!

We’re also adding helpful reminders like people’s birthdays so you can wish them a happy day.”
