Google, the search engine firm, has deleted eight potentially hazardous applications from the Google Play Store, all of which were connected to bitcoin mining. If you have any of the applications that have been deleted from the Play Store installed on your phone, uninstall them immediately. These applications have been downloaded millions of times before they are deleted from the Google Play Store.

Because individuals who have invested in cryptocurrencies have seen significant returns, cryptocurrency mining has become the talk of the town among users all over the globe. As a result, attackers are attempting to cause damage to Android users via bitcoin applications. These apps were previously used to install a large number of malicious applications and adware in the background on the devices of the people who utilized them. In this manner, in addition to data theft, it is possible that clandestine transactions from the user's account were carried out.

Trend Micro warned the users for

According to security company Trend Micro, the applications were displaying advertisements on users' smartphones and attempting to sign them up for premium subscription services. Users were being paid an average of $15 per month for such services, which is about Rs 1,115 per month in today's money. According to the study website, two of these eight applications were paid apps, meaning that users had to pay to download and install them as well.

Google removed the apps

Following the information given by the security company, Google has deleted these eight applications from the Google Play Store. Naturally, these applications have been deleted from the Google Play Store, but thousands of people have already downloaded them. If you have any of these applications installed on your Android smartphone, it is best to remove them as soon as possible. Many fake crypto apps are still on the market

According to the study report, more than 120 bogus bitcoin applications are still accessible for download on the internet. "These applications do not have bitcoin mining capabilities, and they bombard users with in-app advertisements," according to the study. It has been discovered that more than 4,500 people across the world downloaded such applications between July 2020 and July 2021, according to official figures. It is recommended that you check reviews before downloading an app.

Only users can delete the apps

Google can only remove applications from the Play Store's listings, and apps installed on devices can only be removed directly by the people who purchased them. To put it another way, even when a hazardous app is deleted from the Google Play Store, it remains installed on the devices of its users.
