New Delhi: These days, SUVs and MPVs are making a splash in the vehicle segment. This can be gauged from the fact that the sale of SUVs in the October sale had surpassed sedan and hatchback cars and the same continued in November. Because of all this, if you are also going to take a 7-seater car for your family in 2022, first learn about these upcoming SUVs and MPVs.

Toyota Rumion

Toyota has filed a trademark application for the Rumion nameplate in India, indicating that the company will launch its seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) with the same name. It is a rebadged version of Maruti Ertiga and will be launched by April. The 7-seater MPV provides a 1.5-liter K-series petrol engine that meets BS-6 standards that generate 105hp power and 138Nm peak torque.

Maruti XL6

Maruti is gearing up to launch the facelifted version of its MPV Ertiga XL6. It was spotted while testing on Indian roads some time ago and will also be launched in early 2022. It uses a smart hybrid powertrain K15B as before, including a 1.5-liter petrol motor. There are also 5-speed manuals and 4-speed automatic gearboxes as transmission options.

Kia KY

Korean carmaker Kia is going to launch a new MPV which has the codename KY. Kia KY is said to share its base with Kia Sonnet. It will reportedly be given 1.5 liters of diesel and petrol engine options. Its launch time is said to be mid-2022 and will cost budget-friendly just like other models of Kia. This MPV will be brought in as a 6-seater and 7-seater option.

Jeep Meridian

Jeep has been testing the 7-seater compass for several days and speculations are rife that it will be named Meridian in the Indian market. Jeep Meridian will have a mild-hybrid setup 48V with a 2.0-liter diesel engine. Meridian will be introduced with both 6- and 7-seater options and will be like Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace. Jeep in the Indian market is set to launch the new Meridian SUV in mid-2022.

Mahindra New Generation Scorpio

Mahindra may launch its new generation Scorpio SUV in India earlier in the year. The car has been spotted several times during testing. It is a three-row 7-seater SUV with a 2.0-liter m-stallion petrol engine that generates 152hp power and 320Nm torque.

It will also have a 6-speed manual gearbox for transmission and will be controlled by the all-wheel-drive system.
