Riding into the Future: Top 5 Bikes to Buy in 2024

New Delhi: Many people choose to customize their motorcycles to stand out from the crowd. Bike modifications are made to improve the bike's appearance, features, and performance. In 2019, the Supreme Court issued a decision forbidding some bike modifications but permitting others. If you're intending to customize your bike as well, keep these points in mind.

Legal modifications

You may alter the colour, engine belly, dickels, winglets, and other details of your bike. Because such adjustments do not alter the bike's fundamental characteristics, they have been permitted. You may also change the bike's tyre, but you can only do so with tyres that are compatible with the model's top variant. Tyres that do not fit the model of the bike are considered illegal.

Permission from RTO for modification

If the bike engine is not working properly, you can change it yourself, but for that, you have to obtain permission from the Regional Transport Office (RTO). You must first go RTO and get a No Objection Certificate (NOC). Also, after changing the engine, you have to apply for re-registration. There is a condition for an engine change and that both old and new engines run on the same fuel.

Permission from RTO has to be taken to change the colour

You can also change the colour of the bike but for that also you have to seek permission in the RTO. You can give your bike a new colour only after NOC from RTO. First, you have to go with the Register Certificate (RC) book to the RTO from where your bike has been registered. Then you can get your bike painted after getting the approval letter of the RTO.

A nominal fee has to be paid

After changing the color, you need to report it to the RTO office. Where the officer will register a change of colour in your RC. Let me tell you that for this, you have to pay the nominal fee fixed by the Government. This whole process is very easy and it doesn't take much time to complete. Keep in mind that always complete the process prescribed by law for modification of bikes.

As per Section 52(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act, it is very important to maintain all the features offered by the company. Any additional modification in a car or bike under the rule is illegal.
