Apple has introduced the AirPods Pro 2 USB-C case as a standalone accessory, priced at Rs 9,900. This offering allows existing AirPods Pro owners, who have the Lightning variant, to upgrade to the USB-C case without the need to invest in an entirely new set. For those contemplating the USB-C upgrade but hesitant due to the Rs 24,900 price tag for a new pair, this separate accessory presents a cost-effective solution. The AirPods Pro 2 USB-C case maintains the same dimensions, enabling users to swap out their AirPods 2 earbuds effortlessly.

Available on Apple's official website in India, the USB-C case is listed at an attractive price point, providing considerable savings for users who opt for the upgrade. However, it's worth noting that purchasing the case separately excludes the option for AirPods engraving. This customization feature is only available when purchasing a brand-new pair.

It's crucial to highlight that the AirPods Pro 2 USB-C case is specifically designed for the second-generation AirPods Pro and is not compatible with the first-generation model. Apple explicitly mentions that the charging case is suitable for AirPods Pro (2nd generation) that originally shipped with either the MagSafe Charging Case (USB‑C) or the MagSafe Charging Case (Lightning).

This move by Apple echoes its previous strategy of offering cases separately, such as when it introduced MagSafe charging for AirPods, providing users with flexibility in customizing and upgrading their accessories.

With this latest offering, Apple caters to the preferences and needs of its user base, allowing them to enhance their AirPods Pro experience with the convenience of a USB-C case without the need for a full device replacement.

Notably, this isn’t the first time that Apple has offered a case separately for users. Earlier, when it brought MagSafe charging to AirPods, it started offering a MagSafe-compliant case for AirPods Pro first generation as well.
