Sometimes we all get some unknown requests on our social media applications like Instagram, Facebook and others. We accept these requests without knowing that whether these IDs are original or fake.

But do you know that cyber criminals use these kinds of techniques for hacking and illegal activities. These cyber criminals always look to connect with the people.

How does this happen?

Firstly, these criminals send fake requests and when the user accept the request, they start keeping eye on every activity of the user's id like what he/she is posting, where he/she is going etc.

Then they send some suspicious messages to the user and try to hack his/her id.

How to identify?

By profile picture: Whenever you are getting a request on your social media account then see the profile picture. If you find that the picture is not original then reject the request.

They will follow so many profiles on their account, but their followers will be zero or one or two. The posts will also be zero. It may also happen that there is no profile picture.

Scan the profile picture with the Google Image Search tool. If the profile photo is fake, then it will know where the picture has been taken from.

They will send you some suspicious messages on your request section like do you want to earn money from home. They can also send a link. Be careful in such a situation.

They can also send you some messages like they like you, they want to meet you and all.

How to prevent:

  • Remove all the fake profiles and followers from the list.
  • In some condition, you can block or report on the ID.
  • Don't share any personal information on the social media.
