Women’s World Cup IND vs PAK: India sets 170-run target for Pakistan

Derby: A struggling Indian team managed to post a fightable 169/9 in allotted 50 overs against Pakistan in their ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 encounter at County ground here on Sunday.

Opener Punam Raut was the highest scorer for team India as she scored 47 runs off 72 balls hitting 5 boundaries. She missed a deserving half-century, while none other Indian player could make it into 40s.

Deepti Sharma also played a fine inning of 28 runs off 63 balls with 2 fours, while skipper Mithali Raj (8 off 14, 1 four) failed to live up to the expectation in a big match against arch-rivals Pakistan.

Wicket-keeper Sushma Verma played a very crucial knock of 33 runs off only 35 balls and laced her inning with 3 fours and a six. Her inning helped India post a respectable total of 169 runs on the board. Jhulan Goswami also scored 14 runs off 36 balls.

Nashra Sandhu was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan as she picked up 4 important wickets that broke the spine of Indian batting order. She only conceded 26 runs and also bowled a maiden in her 10 overs.

Apart from Nashra, Sadia Yousuf also plucked 2 wickets for 30 runs in her 10 overs. She bowled two overs without giving a single run. Diana Baig (1/28, 3 maidens) and Asmavia Iqbal (1/46) also managed to grab one wicket each.

Pakistan has an easy looking task to complete in front of an upbeat Indian bowling attack. Soon Pak openers would come on the ground to chase down a decent target of 170 runs.
