Singapore: Indian Hockey team thrashed China 2-1 in the finals of the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy Hockey tournament claiming its maiden title here on Saturday.

Deep Grace Ekka had hit the first goal in the 13th minute of the game but China came back levelling the game with Zhong Megling hitting first goal for her team in the 44th minute. It was Deepika Thakur who hit the winning goal for India in the 60th minute helping India to lift the trophy.

It could be recalled here that India had lost to China in the round-robin stage on Friday but came back strong against the same team in the finals.

Hockey India has announced a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakhs for each player and chief coach Neil Hawgood.
