Virat Kohli is half-way to the top; slams 50th International ton

Kolkata: Team India skipper Virat Kohli on Monday reached half-way to the most astonishing record of 100 international centuries of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

With a dominating hundred on the last day of first Test against Sri Lanka, the captain powered a struggling India to 352/8 with his 104-run inning, which came off 119 balls and was laced with 12 fours and 2 sixes.

He reached to the tremendous milestone of 50 international hundreds with a powerful six off the bowling of Suranga Lakmal, who dismissed him for a duck in the first inning of the match. Right after completing his ton, he declared India's inning giving a tough 231-run target to the visiting Sri Lankan team.

Now Virat Kohli has 18 tons in 104 Test innings and 32 centuries in 202 One-Day Internationals. The God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar had scored 49 hundreds in ODIs and 51 tons in Tests taking his total to 100.

Before the start of this match, Virat Kohli has played 60 Tests in which he has scored 4,658 runs with the highest score of 235 runs. He averages 49.55, and apart from 18 tons, he also has 14 half-centuries to his credit in the longest format of the sport.
