VIDEO: Are claims of Rasool’s father on Ganguly true? Let’s find out!

Srinagar: Accepting Parvez Rasool's mistake of chewing gum during national anthem, his father on Thursday countered that former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly also did the same in 2003 .

A video of IndvsEng first T20 match has gone viral in which Rasool can be seen chewing gum and not singing national anthem. Following the same, people lashed out at the Jammu and Kashmir player on social media platforms.

"My son should not have chewed gum during national anthem. But, I have seen Ganguly chewing gum during Jan Gan Man. At that time, media did not attack him but my son is being targeted over the same,” said Parvez Rasool's father. He further said he has asked his son not to repeat his mistake again in future and respect the nation as well.

One of the videos of World Cup 2003 between India and Pakistan, however, portrays a different picture. The 2:50 minute video shows Ganguly chewing the gum but it is not clear whether he continued with it during the recitation.
