Brisbane: After belting an unbeaten 19-ball 33 to propel the hosts to 158/4 in 17 overs, Stoinis picked up two crucial wickets that helped Australia beat India by 4 runs in the rain-affected first T20 International T20I at the Gabba here on Wednesday.

Leggie Adam Zampa (2/22) also supported Stoinis to deny India chase the revised target to 174 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method.

India's chase began on a poor note, losing Rohit Sharma (7) and skipper Virat Kohli (4) cheaply before Shikhar Dhawan's (76 off 42; 4X10, 6X2) explosive knock boosting India's confidence of still having chances of win.

Later on, late blitz from Dinesh Karthik (30 off 13; 4X4, 6X1) and stumper Rishabh Pant (20 off 15; 4X1, 6X1) resulted in a 51-run fifth wicket stand that gave the visitors a real chance. But pacer Andrew Tye came back to not only avenge his thrashing but also spoil India's party.

Stoinis soon joined the party by first removing new man Krunal Pandya (2) and then Karthik to end all hopes of an Indian win.
