Ace Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna became the oldest world number one player in tennis history.

Bopanna has attained this distinction at the age of 43.

In the Australian Open men's doubles quarter-finals, he and his partner Matthew Ebden defeated Argentine pair Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni and qualified for the semi-finals.

In the quarterfinal match, Bopanna and Ebden together won 6-4, 7-6 and made their place in the semi-finals. As soon as he reached the semi-finals, Rohan Bopanna attained a historic feat and became the world's number one oldest player. At present Rohan Bopanna is 43 years old. Bopanna made his debut in tennis 20 years ago. Rohan Bopanna has also been at number 3 in the ranking in his tennis career.

Rohan Bopanna has reached the semi-finals of Australian Open for the first time. Bopanna played men's doubles for the first time in 2008 but could never reach the third round. But this time Rohan Bopanna has made his place in the semi-finals by performing amazingly.

Bopanna and Mathew were in great form during the quarter-finals, which was why the opposition players could not play them very well.
