Roger Federer forays into Wimbledon final for 11th time

London: Swiss Tennis legend Roger Federer is just a win away from his eighth Wimbledon title, as he defeated Tomas Berdich of the Czech Republic 7-6(4), 7-6(4), 6-4 in the second semifinal of the grand slam.

After the hard fought victory, Federer has booked the final bout of the tournament with Marin Cilic of Croatia. It may be mentioned that this is the 11th time when the legendary Tennis player has reached into the final of Wimbledon.

It may be recalled that back in 2010, the 11th seed Berdich had defeated the 35-year-old Switzerland player in the quarterfinal of Wimbledon.

With his entry into the final, Federer has become the second oldest player in the history of Wimbledon to enter into the final after Ken Rosewall (1974), who was 39-year-old at that time.

Rosewall had suffered a defeat in the final at the hands of Jimmy Connors, but Roger Federer is being considered the stronger contender for the title this year.
