London: India’s last hope in the Wimbledon 2016 has been crushed as the Leander Paes and Martina Hingis pair faced a defeat in the third round of the mixed doubles.

They lost 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to Heather Watson and Henri Kontinen in 91 minutes game.

Indo-Swiss pair started well and ended up the things with 6-3 in the first round. But, Watson-Henri shocked Paes-Hingis after delivering some spectacular performances in the second and third round.

The winners of the third round will clash with Russia’s Alla Kudryavtseva and Scott Lipsky of United States in the quarter-finals.

Overall, it was a bad for Indians as defending champion Sania Mirza also faced a setback in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon.
