Rio: US swimmer Michael Phelps bags 21st gold in Olympics

Rio de Janiro: American swimmer Michael Phelps on Tuesday won his 21st gold totalling 25 medals in the Olympics so far by beating Japan’s Masato Sakai in the 200-metre butterfly at the Rio de Janeiro of Brazil.

The match was being played at the Olympic Aquatics stadium.

Other contenders including Masata and Hungary’s Tamas Kenderesi claimed silver and bronze medals respectively.

South Africa’s Chad le Clos finished fourth in the swimming contest.

It was Phelps second gold medal in the Olympics 2016 as had bagged first gold on Sunday in freestyle relay.

After four days of Olympics, USA is leading with 26 medals including 9 gold.

China is being seated at the second spot with 17 medals.
