Now, Dhoni finds finisher’s job as the toughest

Ranchi: After serving Indian Cricket as the most successful finisher ever , the Indian limited overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni now finds the job as the ‘toughest’. Mahi said that it is going to be a difficult task for the team management to find a player who is adept in batting at batting in lower order.

What he meant to say that it has almost been impossible for any team to find a perfect finisher, a modest statement coming from a great of Indian Cricket. What he did not say either was to search a new finisher.

MS Dhoni said:

  • Batting down the order is never easy and especially on these kinds of pitches it becomes even more difficult.
  • There will be pressure to rotate, to get a partnership.
  • It is not easy. You do not always get a player who’s complete and bats at no 5, 6 or 7.

Lack of an able finisher was also a major cause in India’s defeat to New Zealand. Axar Patel and Dhawal Kulkarni had played fighting knocks but their efforts were too little and inadequate in Ranchi one dayer which eventually India post by 19 runs.

With series levelled at 2-1, the 5th ODI would have all the ingredients of being cracker of a match with Men in Blue taking on Black Caps on Saturday at Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
