Chennai: At the time when Karun Nair is receiving praises all around, he has added one more admirer in his captain Virat Kohli. Indian Test skipper said he has not seen any batsmen currently in Indian team playing sweep shot with such perfection against spin as the 25-year old batsman did.

During his unbeaten knock of 303 runs, Karun played reverse sweep shot frequently and scored 53 out of these runs from this shot. He also played reverse sweep shot almost to the perfection

Calling Nair as a complete package, Kohli said he has understood his game at such a young age.

What else Indian captain said regarding Karun Nair?

  • It is important to back guys like Karun. He was always our No.1 choice as a middle-order back-up.
  • The chance came, just the third innings and he has done wonders.
  • Replacing a batsman like Ajinkya Rahane, who has been performing consistently in the last two years in red ball Cricket is never easy.
  • He walked in and scored a triple hundred. There could not have been a bigger statement.

Clinching IndvsEng five-match Test series 4-0, India ended 2016 on a high note. India also won Asia Cup, ODI and Test series against New Zealand in 2016.
