IPL 10 GL vs MI: Kishan-Tye guide struggling Gujarat to 153/9

Rajkot: Slog overs fireworks helped Gujarat Lions (GL) rise from an extremely problematic situation to a decent score of 153/9 against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter at Saurashtra Cricket stadium here on Saturday.

After an aggressive 48-run inning by Ishan Kishan, Andrew Tye's slog over blitz helped GL post a decent score on the board as at one time with seven wickets down at 101 in 15.4 overs, they were facing the threat of being wrapped up below 120-run mark.

Kishan scored 48 runs off 35 balls with 3 fours and 2 handsome sixes, while Andrew Tye played a belligerent inning of 25 runs off only 12 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. All the frontline batsmen of Gujarat Lions, including Brendon McCullum (6), Suresh Raina (1), Aaron Finch (0) and Dinesh Karthik (2), failed to reach into the double figures.

Ravindra Jadeja, however, played a decent knock of 28 runs off 21 balls with 2 fours and a six. James Faulkner also held on to one end scoring 21 runs off 27 balls with 2 fours. Irfan Pathan could nto do much and got out at the individual score of 2 runs.

Krunal Pandya was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged 3 wickets for only 14 runs in his four overs. Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga took two each for 32 and 33 runs, respectively, while Harbhajan Singh managed one scalp for 23 runs in his four-over spell.

Mitchell McClenaghan, who has been one of MI's most successful bowlers this season, went extremely expensive as he conceded 50 runs off his 4 overs without getting any success.

Having a huge batting line-up, Mumbai Indians will soon be back on the ground to chase down a modest target of 154 runs.
