IPL 10 MI vs GL: Rohit, Pollard collective show brings win for Mumbai

Mumbai: And the captain is back in form. Leading from the front, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma wins the game for his side by six wickets against Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premiere League match at Wankhede stadium here on Sunday.

He played a match-winning knock of 40 runs which came off 29 deliveries with three fours and one six. Dangerous Kieron Pollard also contributed with 39-run knock and shared 68-run stand with Rohit.

Chasing 176-run total, MI's first blood was drawn by Praveen Kumar who dismissed Parthiv Patel for a duck. Then, Jos Buttler along with in-form young talent Nitish Rana shared 85-run partnership. Buttler got out at 26. Rana was the top scorer for Mumbai with 36-ball 53-run inning, studded with four fours and two sixes.

For GL, Andrew Tye was the leading wicket taker with bowling figures of 2/34. Praveen and Munaf Patel bagged one wicket each.

Earlier, after being put to bat, Gujarat Lions, Darren Smith was troubled by McClenaghan and was the first to go. Then, came skipper Suresh Raina and shared solid 80-run stand along with Brendon McCullum for the side.

McCullum played a boisterous 44-ball 64-run knock, laced with six fours and three sixes.

Dinesh Karthik was also in midas touch and played a quick-fire knock of unbeaten 48 runs in just 26 deliveries. He hit two fours and two biggies in his inning.

For MI, Mitchell McClenaghan bagged two wickets. Lasith Malinga and Harbhajan Singh claimed one wicket each.
