Kanpur: Indian Cricket team will play its 500th Test match at the Green Park here when Virat Kohli led Test side will lock horns with New Zealand in the first Test of the three-match series from September 22. Preparations regarding the Test match are on its final phase.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) pitch and ground committee chairman Daljit Singh on Tuesday visited Kanpur’s Green Park and did inspection with pitch curator Shiv Kumar.

Daljit Singh said:

  • Indian team head coach Anil Kumble wants good practice pitch.
  • Indian team will reach here on September 17 so that they get proper time for practice.
  • It is not possible to make a bouncy pitch in September and traditionally it would be spin supportive.

India and New Zealand will also clash in the five-match ODI series.
