India defeated South Africa by 7 wickets in the second test of the series held in Cape Town.

Backed by a fine bowling performance by pacers Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, India defeated South Africa within 2 days and drew the series 1-1.

South Africa had given India a target of 79 runs to win, which India achieved by losing 3 wickets. With this victory, Rohit Sharma has become the second Indian captain under whose leadership Team India has been successful in drawing a Test series on African soil. Before Rohit Sharma, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had achieved this feat.

On the second day in Cape Town, South Africa, who started with a score of 63, were all out for just 176 runs in the second innings. After which South Africa has given India a target of 79 runs to win. Aiden Markram scored a century in the second innings for South Africa. Markram scored 106 runs. Jasprit Bumrah took 6 wickets in the second innings for India.

Earlier, on the first day of the match, South Africa captain Dean Elgar won the toss and decided to bat first. After this, the African team surrendered before the balls of Mohammad Siraj and the entire team was reduced to 55 runs.

Mohammad Siraj took 6 wickets while giving 15 runs in 9 overs. For South Africa, wicketkeeper Vereen scored 15 runs and Bedingham scored 12 runs. Except these two, no other batsman could cross the double figures. In response, the Indian team was all out for 153 runs in the first innings. India lost the last 6 wickets of the first innings without adding any runs.

In the first innings for India, Virat Kohli scored 46 runs, Rohit Sharma scored 39 runs and Shubman Gill scored 36 runs. Nandre Berger, Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada took three wickets each in the first innings for South Africa.
