IndvsAus Cricket Test in Dharamsala: It is match and series for India...!

Dharamsala: An emphatic eight-wicket win in the fourth and last cricket Test match against Australia saw India sealing the series 2-1 on Tuesday.

Needing 106 runs for victory, India cruised to the target on fourth day of the match with KL Rahul (51 not out) and stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane (38 not out) contributing to this magnificent victory. It was Rahul's sixth 50-plus score in the series and was one of the architects of series win for India.

Rahane, who scored a quick fire 38 of 27 balls, had a distinction to win as a captain in his first match. He was asked to lead the side in the absence of regular captain Virat Kohli, who was nursing his injured shoulder.

Resuming from 19 for one, India had an early scare losing opener Murali Vijay and ever-dependent Cheteshwar Pujara but, Rahul and Rahane ensured India romped home without any further hiccups.

This win turns historic as it comes after four years. India did not win any series against the kangaroos after 2012-2013, in which it has swiped out the Aussies, clinching the win by 4-0.

The bowlers too showed a good play, wrapping up the opponent at 137 runs in second innings.

The third day saw the most interesting moments of the game from bowlers' side. The win would have been beyond reach had the spinner duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja not made Australia struggle to get a decent total on the scoreboard.

The Jadeja show:

Jadeja's game turned out to be a delight to watch for the cricket lovers. His 63 runs in the first innings and 4 wickets entitled him for the Man of the Match.

Jadeja was also declared as the Man of the series for scoring 127 runs and taking highest number of 25 wickets.

While Ashwin and Jadeja got three wickets each, fast bowler Umesh Yadav too emerged as a helping hand to them, taking three wickets. One wicket went to Bhuwneshwar Kumar's side.

All in all, the match was an excellent show of the team work by the Indian squad which helped India getting the historic victory.

Brief Score:

Australia 1st inning- 300

India 1st inning- 332

Australia 2nd inning- 137

India 2nd inning- 106/2
