Nagpur: With the help of two terrific tons by Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara, India managed to get a healthy lead of 107 runs against Sri Lanka on Day 2 of the second Test being played at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium here on Saturday.

At Stumps on Day 2, India was on the driving seat at 312/2 with Pujara batting at 121 runs off 284 balls (13 fours) along with skipper Virat Kohli (54 off 70, 6 fours).

Starting the day from 11/1, Vijay and Pujara consolidated the inning with a colossal 209-run partnership and brought India to a dominating position at 216 runs with 9 wickets in hand. Vijay, however, lost his wicket but before leaving back for the pavilion, he had scored 128 runs off 221 balls with the help of 11 fours and a six. It was Vijay's 10th hundred in the longest format of the game.

Pujara continued his sublime act and soon completed his 14th Test hundred in the 53rd match. By the end of day's play, Virat Kohli had also completed his 15th half century.

Earlier on Day 1, India had lost one wicket in form of Lokesh Rahul (7 off 13) after wrapping up a shaky Lankan side for 205 runs. Lahiru Gamage and Rangana Herath have picked up one wicket each so far.

Sri Lankan bowlers will have to get some quick wickets as the next day begins if they want to stay alive in the match.
