ICC is going to implement new rule in ODI and T20 cricket, problems will increase for bowling team

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has brought a new rule of stop clock in men's international ODI and T-20 formats. Under this, five runs will be imposed as penalty for not bowling the over on time.

Many important decisions were taken in the ICC Board meeting held on Wednesday. The ICC said that the stop clock rule will first be used as a trial.

Under the stop clock rule, if a bowler takes more than 60 seconds to bowl the next over, then a five-run penalty will be imposed on the bowling team for doing so three times during an innings.

The ICC said in a statement, the rules in men's ODI and T-20 will start from December 2023, which will be implemented on a trial basis till April 2024. During this time a stop clock will be used. This clock will be used to keep track of the time taken between overs.

The ICC has also made changes in the process of restricting the pitch. Under this, the number of demerit points in five years for removing the international status of the venue has now been reduced to six instead of five.

Important decisions were also taken on Sri Lanka:

1. Hosting of Under-19 World Cup snatched: ICC snatched hosting of Men's Under-19 Cricket World Cup to be held in 2024 from Sri Lanka. Now this tournament will be held in South Africa.

2. Teams given permission to play: Despite the ban on Sri Lankan cricket, ICC has given permission to the Sri Lankan team to play international tournaments and bilateral series.

3. Took financial matters into its own hands: ICC has taken over the financial matters of Sri Lanka Cricket. Now the funding received by the Sri Lankan Board will also be controlled by the ICC.
