According to the schedule of the World Cup 2023 released by the ICC recently, Indian cricket team will be playing in nine cities. Team India will be facing Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Pakistan and other teams in the tournament. Team India had won the World Cup in 2011 as a host country. This trophy was won by Australia in 2015 and England in 2019 respectively.

The selection of the venues for the Team India matches may provide comfort to the fans, who are expecting India to lift the trophy this time, as they appear to look favourable to the home team though a few venues can also cause problems and allow the opponents to dominate.

Let’s have a look at the venues where Team India may face difficulties-

Chennai: India will start its first world cup match against Australia on 8th October at Chennai. Team Australia had already won world cup for five times. The pitch of Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium is helpful for spinners. Previously, a one-day match was played between India-Australia here in March 2023, in which Australia had won by 21 runs. So this can be an advantage or disadvantage for team India.

Dharmshala: India will play New Zealand in Dharmshala on 22nd October. Previously one-day match was played here in 2017 in which Sri Lanka had battered India. The blowers can show their talent here and team New Zealand can take the benefit from this.

Lucknow: India will play another match against England in Lucknow’s Ekana stadium. India had played only one match here in which it was defeated by South Africa.

Now it will be interesting to see whether the strategy could prove to be beneficial for the host or turn out to be counterproductive.
