Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Singh has been handed two-match suspension over breach of the ICC Code of Conduct.

The ICC said that Harmanpreet committed two breaches of the code of conduct and would also face 75 per cent deduction of her match fee.

The Indian eve’s captain has been punished for public display of her displeasure during the third match of the women’s championship against Bangladesh at Dhaka recently.

Harmanpreet, who was adjudged LBW, had hit the stumps with her bat in frustration as she felt that the ball was going outside the leg stump.

She had later come down heavily upon the level of umpiring in the match and said that there must be some ways to deal with poor umpiring at international level.

ICC said in a statement that Harmanpreet was found guilty of breaching Article 2.8 of the code of conduct that related to showing dissent at umpire’s decision.

The third match between India and Bangladesh had ended in a tie.
