Lucknow: In a Cricket fanatic country of about 1.35 billion people, it is very obvious that there is a lot of competition to get selected in the national side. Hence, many highly talented players have to look for options in other countries to play the game at the highest level.

Apart from producing players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid and many more, India had some other cricketers who represented the national sides of other countries too.

Nasser Hussain

Nasser Hussain is one of the most famous Indian-origin cricketers who made a name playing for another country. He was born in Chennai and marked his debut for the Three Lions Cricket team back in 1989.

After Michael Atherton's retirement, Hussain got the captaincy of England and led them to 17 Test victories in the 45 Tests that he captained.

England won many series abroad under his captaincy. He finally decided to hang his boots in 2004. Currently, he is working as a full time commentator with Sky Sports.

Rohan Kanhai

The West Indies Cricket team used to rule the world in the 70s. They had a bunch of legends in the playing XI and the captain of the side was Rohan Kanhai, an Indian-origin cricketer, who marked his debut in 1957.

He retired in 1974 after leading West Indies to three Test wins and seven draws. He was also the first ODI captain of West Indies side. He scored 6,000 runs before announcing retirement.

Hashim Amla

One of the finest South African batsmen ever, Hashim Amla has been on a run-making spree ever since he started to represent the country at the international level. He actually belongs to Gujarat but his ancestors had moved to South Africa many years ago.

The Muslim lad led South Africa in 14 Tests in which his team lost 4 and won four. He also led the side in nine ODIs and 2 T20Is.

Ashish Bagai

The Delhi lad was a part of an inexperienced Canadian Cricket team for more than a decade. He also captained the side for six years and played 62 ODIs and 9 Tests.

Under his captaincy, Canada won four matches and he finally big adieu to the sport in 2014.

Aasif Karim

Aasif Karim was born in port town of Mombasa in Kenya but his ancestors hailed from India. He was the captain of the national side for a long time. He represented the country in 21 ODIs and led the team to six victories. He was amongst the top performers of Kenyan side in the 2003 World Cup.

They might have lost against India in the tournament but Karim impressed. He also won the man of the match award against Australia in the same tournament.
