Kolkata: In yet another breathtaking encounter, England took the match away from India to clinch their first victory on Indian trip as they registered a 5-run win at the Eden Gardens stadium here on Sunday.

India managed to score 316 runs in reply to England's 321/8 in the first innings of the match. Kedar Jadhav played a fighting innings of 90 runs off 75 balls with help of 12 fours and a six. Hardik Pandya also played an important inning of 56 runs off 43 balls hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Skipper Virat Kohli also scored a half-century to complete his 1000 runs as captain. He added 55 runs off 63 balls with 8 boundaries. Yuvraj Singh, who scored a magnificent 150 runs, also played a crucial inning of 45 runs off 57 balls scoring 5 fours and a six.

Indian openers, Lokesh Rahul (11) and Ajinkya Rahane (1), failed once again while Ravindra Jadeja scored 10 runs off 6 balls with 2 boundaries.

Ben Stokes put up a standout performance as after scoring 57 runs, he bagged 3 wickets for 63 runs in 10 overs. Chris Woakes and Jake Ball also bagged two wickets each for 75 and 56 runs, respectively.

David Willey and Liam Plunkett also took one wicket each. With this victory, England managed to save pride after losing the three-match series 1-2.
