Asia cup: three matches may be played between India and Pakistan

The schedule of Asia cup 2023 has been released. The tournament will start from 30th August.

Team India will play its first match on second September against Pakistan.

The match will be played in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

This time the tournament is going to be held as a 'hybrid model' because the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan.

Four matches of Asia cup will be played in Pakistan while the other nine will be played in Sri Lanka.

Multan in Pakistan will host one match and the remaining three matches will be played at Lahore.

Sri Lanka will host nine matches of which three will be played at Kandy while the remaining six will be played at Colombo.

There are two groups in the tournament in which six teams are divided into each group.

India, Pakistan and Nepal are in group A while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are in group B.

The first match of this tournament will be played in Multan between Pakistan and Nepal.

India will play its first match in Kandy against Pakistan. India will meet Nepal in its second match.

According to the rules of the tournament, two teams from both the groups will qualify for Super-4.

According to the schedule released by Jay Shah, president of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) if Pakistan and India will come at top in group A then Pakistan will be considered as A1 and India will be A2.

If both the teams reach Super-4 then there are possibilities that India will play against Pakistan on 17th September.

In case, India and Pakistan become the two top teams then the final match will be played at Colombo.
