The Pakistan team, which was eliminated from the World Cup 2023, has returned home.

It is believed that Pakistan Cricket Board may remove Babar Azam from the captaincy or Babar Azam himself may resign from the captaincy. However, a decision on this will be taken after the meeting with the PCB this week.

Shaheen Afridi, Shan Masood and Sarfaraz Ahmed are at the forefront in the race for the new captain of Pakistan team.

Pakistan team won only 4 out of 9 matches of World Cup 2023 and faced defeat in five matches. Not only this, Pakistan also had to face defeat at the hands of Afghanistan.

Pakistan cricket team has to tour Australia as well as New Zealand in December-January. A big change can be seen in the Pakistan team on this tour. If media reports are to be believed, there will soon be a meeting between PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf and Babar Azam. During this time, the decision will be taken on the captaincy of the team in all formats of cricket. PCB can appoint separate captains for red ball and white ball cricket.

If PCB changes the captain of Pakistan cricket team, then either Shan Masood or Sarfaraz Ahmed or fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi can be given the responsibility of captaincy. While Shaheen Afridi is still a part of the team, Shan Masood and Sarfaraz Ahmed are out of the ODI team.

If we look at Babar Azam's record as captain, under his captaincy Pakistan has won 25 out of 43 ODI matches and lost 15. At the same time, out of 71 T20 Internationals played under his captaincy, Pakistan has won 42 matches and lost 23. Whereas under his captaincy, he had to face defeat in 6 out of 10 tests. Now it remains to be seen what decision is taken regarding his captaincy.
