Retired IAS Surya Pratap Singh slams Yogi Adityanath government

Lucknow: Retired Uttar Pradesh IAS officer Surya Pratap Singh on Friday lodged an FIR against unidentified armed goons for allegedly attacking his house. He also took a dig at the ruling Yogi Adityanath government, saying the incident has shaken him deeply.

In the FIR, the former Indian Administrative Service officer claimed that some drunk people carrying guns and rifles and their faces covered with saffron cloth, attacked his residence at 10.30 pm on Thursday and again at 1.30 am on Friday.

Surya Pratap Singh shared the entire episode with a Facebook post in which he claimed that none of the senior police officers picked his call when he needed help.

"It would not have disappointed me, if happened during the previous Samajwadi Party government. Each and everyone of us played a role in elevating BJP to power in the state. But unfortunately, a former IAS officer like me is facing harassment under the rule of Yogi Adityanath," he wrote in his Facebook post.

He also wondered who was behind the attack on his house saying they might be the goons of Gaurav Upadhyay, former Shiv Sena legislator, whose vehicle's photographs were shared by him on social media. He also claimed that the attackers might be sent by the corrupt administrators, politicians, engineers or mafias who have been troubled by him in the past.

Telling about registering an FIR into the matter, Surya Pratap Singh said who actually conspired the attack will only be caught once police completes its probe.

He also asked the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) if nothing has changed in Uttar Pradesh even after dethronement of previous Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, whose regime was widely regarded as the government of goons.

At the end of the Facebook post, he expressed that his life was in danger, but he was not afraid.
