New Delhi: Following Airtel and Vodafone’s strategy of countering Reliance Jio, Idea cellular on Thursday announced two prepaid packs of Rs 148 and Rs 348 providing free voice call and data benefit to the users.

The recharge of Rs 148 will provide customers enjoy free voice calls to Idea users with additional 50MB data. The users with 4G handsets, however, will get 300 MB of data.

With the recharge of Rs 348, Idea will provide free voice calls to any network across India with 50MB data. The users with 4G handsets, however, will get 1GB of data.

“As people in India get into the holiday mode, they will tend to stay better connected with their loved ones. Providing them with seamless connectivity at an affordable price point, we have launched these exciting voice packs that enable Idea prepaid users to make unlimited voice calls across the country. We hope they make the best out of this proposition,” said Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular.

Both packs have the validity of a month, i.e. 28 days. The rates, however, may vary from circle to circle.

Jio had announced extension of free domestic voice calls and data till March 31, 2017. Even after March, the company would offer free calls for life to its 4G customers.

Earlier, Airtel launched quiet similar packs of Rs 145 and Rs 345 while Vodafone reduce 4G data prices by 50 percent.
